It's Golden......

Was browsing through a magazine the other day and came across an article describing the perfume called Acqua diGenova. So cool, because there is a perfume out there with my name on it!!!! ( the DiGenova part, silly....) I wonder what it smells like, but it is about 130.00 a botttle so that's not happening for a while.... I think it must be a citrus-based eau fraiche which, just happens to be right up my alley! It looks so Italian and elegant.

I also came across this picture of a gold mask offered at some spa in Japan.

Lately I have been fascinated by Japanese cosmetics and health/beauty aids. There is some really freaky stuff out there! The websites are so colorful and cute. It must be that whole Hello Kitty thing that I respond to!

I use Sekkisei/KOSE products on my face and I love them. They are some of the finest skincare products I've ever tried. I especially love the powdered skin cleanser that you mix with water. It foams up into a very creamy lather and rinses off easily. I also love the White peel-off facial mask (which oddly enough, is BLACK!) White refers to the action on your skin. It is supposed to even out your skintone by fading age and sun spots. All I know is that after I use this my skin acts and looks perfect for a couple of days.

The other product I cannot live without is Cetaphil. My skin is very sensitive and this is so mild and pure. It always calms my face down immediately. I mix Cetaphil with either sea salt or demererra sugar and scrub my face. It comes out so soft.

Old reruns of Project Runway have been playing today. I loved season 2 the best. I think that season had the best and funniest designers. the episode I watched was the one where Santino gets caught aping Tim Gunn. "Make it work!"...."What happened to Andre??"
I have been watching this season's episodes, but haven't decided who I think should win.

Saturday!

Had dinner tonight at Bonefish Grill. We had these wonderful Bang Bang Shrimp as our appetizer. Spicy, but good. I had shrimp and scallops as my entree, which were topped with a mango salsa. The side was au gratin potatoes, and the vegetable was grilled corn off the cob. The corn was a big disappointment. Instead of being fresh and good, it was old and tough.

After we ate, we went over to the huge Wegmans . I spent most of my time in the natural foods section looking at all the brands you cannot find anywhere else.
I noticed they had bulk cannisters of teas you could scoop out yourself. I got a peppermint chai blend, which is so intoxicating! All I could smell was that green cardamom, which is , to me, one ofthe most luxurious and mysterious smells in the whole world. I brewed some when I got home and it is so delicious. the mint and cardamom really blend so well together. The tea is so expensive, though. It was 30.00/lb! I got 3.00 worth, which is probably enough for 3-4 pots of tea. Now I wish I would've gotten more. Oh well, it gives me an excuse to go back and browse some more.
I also went to the Rite Aid at Shoppingtown mall and found some perfume from Paris which was 2.97! It smells like a dupe of D&G Light Blue, which I have been circling lately. I love cheap french perfumes. They are much more subtle than others. There is one called Sweet Sixteen which is almost dry scented. I think I paid less than 10 dollars for that at Perfumania .

Speidie Got A Gun/or/ Pratts with Gats......

What demented FOOL would ever think this is a good idea????? Who the hell would ever give these two guns?

I had read they were taking shooting lessons and this is probably a photo to go along with that, but sheesh.....Spencer could not look any less threatening, almost psycho, and Heidi looks like she's modeling the latest fashion accessory.

I think they are trying to show their support of McCain and the Republicans now that she has finally registered to vote. There was some to-do over the fact that she is hanging around with John McCain's daughter. (all for publicity...I guess someone is interested..... they keep getting their picture taken!)

I've been spending my past week chasing rabbits out of the yard/garden . One rabbit just refuses to leave the yard and sits there mocking me eating grass nonchalantly.

I got some corn and peaches today and made basil from the garden into pesto. I had a nice little supper tonight!
I got these shoes yesterday from Kohl's. This picture doesn't do them justice...
They are Ralph Lauren Chaps and are suede. They are quite charming.
I couldn't pass them up They are regularly 59.99 and I got them for 11.99!
I wasn't sure if I'd like walking on the thin wedge, but it's like walking on heels with extra support.
I also bought my second Bullet Blender. I used the first one so much it was screaming out in agony! The minute I brought it home I made broccoli soup for lunch. That stuff is so easy and soooo good! You just put broccoli, chicken stock, a little bit of milk or half and half, salt, pepper and whatever seasonings you like in the cup, microwave it for a couple of minutes and then blend it together. I used zataar as my seasoning. I'm so addicted to that stuff! I usually use garam masala, but I had to try the zataar.
I got a sourdough baguette from Panera to go with my soup. That bread is delicious! It has just the right texture for me.
I think tomorrow I will cook up some chick peas so I can make hummus. I'm also thinking about making falafel. I haven't made those in years! As you can see, I'm on a Middle-Eastern jag right now.
Time for bed.

Nostalgia Tuesday.....

So, everywhere look lately, I'm seeing this Louise Brooks bob. The ad for the 08 Fall Chanel collection is the most literal I've seen. I really like it. Louise Brooks was one cute/beautiful woman. I always think of her as a "wild animal" in a beautiful woman's body. I was thinking of getting my hair cut into this style, but now I am a bit hesitant because it will look like I'm just a lemming.

I've been thinking about this perfume Frances Denney HOPE.....It is still available for sale, and I'm thinking about getting some. I used to wear Interlude a lot, it was sort of my signature scent along with Enjoli when I was in my early 20's.

I also found this picture of Love's fresh Lemon, which I also used to wear

the only thing is, that if I smelled it now, it would probably smell like lemon Pledge. I remember it having an almost creamy under-note that kept it from smelling too industrial.

I just ordered Rubigo products from their website. Their Indian earth was always in my makeup bag. I went through quite a few of those little clay pots with the cork lids. I ordered the compact type in the earth tone, and a couple of their lip pencils( which I also used to use) and a couple of lipsticks based on the Rubigo colors.

I'm back!

Finally got a chance to sit down and write a bit.... I got home Wednesday afternoon, and have been doing a bit of everything since then. We had a wonderful time visiting family in MA.
I keep thinking about knitting this Michael Kors vest-tunic-thingy. I think maybe with 3/4 sleeves.....

I also saw a picture of these cute little Gwen Stefani Harajuku Lovers perfumes. They are aptly named LOVE, ANGEL, MUSIC,BABY for her backup Harajuku dancers, and the 5th one looks like Gwen. The descriptions of the scents sound good. They are due to hit stores(Macy's?) in September.
Lately, I have been reading a book about Frida Kahlo, the mexican artist from the 20's and 30's. For some reason I'm drawn to art ofthis period. I love impressionism and modern stuff. I think that maybe it's because the lives of these artists were as colorful as their work. That whole thing with Dali and his wife, Gala. He called her his beautiful twin and what a bitch she was! The ultimate muse, I guess....
It's pouring here today. My poor garden. while I was away the rabbits ate all my parsley and all the mesclun that was coming up. I'm going to try and fence in the garden to avoid total destruction. Hasenpfeffer! :( (cute but deadly)

YOU HAVE TREMENDOUS POWERS THAT YOU ARE NOT USING.....

That was my fortune cookie fortune for today. Kind of true, and to the point....

One of my current favorite artists is Emily Martin of Inside A Black Apple. Her drawings and dolls remind me of Susan Paley pottery.

Some day I will own a print, and If I ever get ambitious, I will make a Black Apple Doll.

Emily was on Martha Stewart's show one day making them, and they actually put the pattern on the web! Such sweetness....
